TVK government’s anti-corruption measures in four months will ensure bypoll victory: Minister K.G. Arunraj

Minister for Health and Family Welfare K.G. Arunraj on Saturday (September 12) said the measures taken by the TVK-led government to curb corruption during its first four months in office would help the party win the upcoming by-elections in Dharapuram and Maduranthakam by comfortable margins.Speaking to reporters in Coimbatore, Mr. Arunraj said the government’s biggest achievement was in taking measures to curb corruption. “Nobody thought we could break the normalisation of corruption. Under the previous government, corruption had become a way of life and part of everyday governance. This alone is enough to help us win the by-elections by huge margins,” he said.Asked about the TVK’s decision to field former AIADMK members who had resigned from the party in the same constituencies, Mr. Arunraj said the TVK was not merely a political party but a movement with a long-term mission for the betterment of Tamil Nadu and its people.“We welcome everyone who joins us in this mission,” he said.On the DMK’s State-wide demonstration against Chief Minister C. Joseph Vijay over his remarks in the Assembly, which that party had described as “arrogant”, Mr. Arunraj said the DMK had no moral standing to speak about arrogance.Responding to criticism over the choice of location for the proposed new Secretariat building and questions over the need for the project, Mr. Arunraj said the project had been designed keeping in mind the future administrative requirements of the State. “We have kept in mind all the future administrative needs while designing the project.
