Turkish journalist DETAINED by police ‘for saying Jamal Musiala was going to sign for Galatasaray’

TURKISH journalist Burhan Can Terzi was shockingly detained by police after reporting Galatasaray were close to signing Bayern Munich star Jamal Musiala. According to Haberler, Terzi was held by order of the Bakırkoy chief public prosecutor’s office on charges of “publicly disseminating misleading information”. Terzi reported on July 26 that Galata had “largely agreed” with Musiala, 23, but the club issued a stern statement denying that claim. Galatasaray‘s announcement read: “Recently, the need to inform the public about our club has been deliberately circulated and does not reflect the truth. “The allegations that professional football player Jamal Musiala will transfer to Galatasaray are untrue. “Keeping these allegations, which are clearly unreal, on the agenda; it is an effort to create a perception aimed at misleading the public and discrediting the transfer efforts of our club. “It is noteworthy that the people and media who own these speculations came to the public with similar unreal claims last season. “Galatasaray carry out transfer activities with great meticulousness and confidentiality in line with the interests of our club. Most read in Football “Unreal news and speculative claims will not change the working principles and goals of our club. “We kindly request that the public and the great Galatasaray fans take only the official statements of our club as a basis, not to respect the news and speculations that do not reflect the truth, the people and media that persistently put them into circulation.” According to NTV, Terzi stood by his information insisting his findings regarding Musiala and Galatasaray were based on truth. The journalist responded: “Simultaneously, Musiala would attend the camp next week from different sources. “I’m not in the mood to get up in the morning to make it up or see it in my dreams at night.” Terzi’s career started after graduating from Istanbul University where he studied Journalism. He started out at Fotospor in 2009 and then worked as an editor as well as assistant director of sports at Guneş before moving to Aksam. The Turkish journo quickly crossed over to TV as he took part in football programs on TGRT and BenguTurk. He is also among the founding partners of Sportcell Media and has ben covering Galatasaray for years. According to Halk TV, Terzi clashed with the Turkish giants last year when he claimed club president Dursun Ozbek would have lost the 2022 elections to Esref Hamamcioglu if it wasn’t for controversial former director Erden Timur. Timur was arrested in December as part of a major investigation into betting and match-fixing in Turkish football. The former Galatasaray chief was jailed for about six months as part of a pre-trial detention and released in June under judicial supervision while the investigation continues. Comment now
