Turkey welcomes Iraqi security measures in Sinjar as crucial step for stability

Baghdad (IraqiNews.com) – Ankara officially welcomed recent military and security measures undertaken by the Iraqi federal government to consolidate state authority and establish full sovereign control over Sinjar District in Nineveh Governorate, characterizing the assumption of security command by official Iraqi security forces as a pivotal step toward achieving lasting regional stability. Speaking during a weekly press briefing, Spokesperson for the Turkish Ministry of National Defense, Rear Admiral Zeki Aktürk, stated that Turkey welcomes Baghdad’s focused efforts to normalize conditions in Sinjar and eliminate non-state armed threats. Aktürk emphasized that ending the illicit presence of terrorist networks and transferring territorial security administration directly to Iraq’s official federal security institutions represent an essential milestone for securing permanent peace across the border area, adding that Turkish authorities continue to track developments on the ground in close coordination with Iraqi counterparts.
