Keralam Labour Minister Bindhu Krishna The Health department’s efforts in tuberculosis eradication are exemplary, Labour Minister Bindhu Krishna said on Sunday while inaugurating the ‘TB-mukt panchayat’ award distribution ceremony in Kollam district. The Minister said coordinated efforts of the Health department, local self-government institutions, and various Central and State agencies have yielded significant results in making the region tuberculosis-free.She added that in a context where new viruses, infectious diseases, and social challenges such as drug abuse are emerging, the healthcare system and society must exercise greater vigilance, and the collective action of the government, health workers, and the public is essential to face such challenges.Award recipientsThe Minister distributed awards to local self-government institutions that recorded outstanding performance in tuberculosis eradication, including Chithara, Nilamel, Neendakara, Kundara, Perayam, Poothakkulam, Mayyanad, Clappana, and Sooranad grama panchayats. District panchayat president R. Lathadevi presided over the function. District Medical Officer (Health) Dr. Sheeja A.
