TTD reiterates commitment to cow protection on Gokulashtami

POORNACHANDRA KUMAR The Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanams (TTD) has reiterated its commitment to cow protection and promoting native cattle breeds.On the occasion of Gokulashtami, TTD Executive Officer Muddada Ravichandra performed ‘Go Puja’ at the Sri Venkateswara Gosamrakshanasala, the TTD dairy farm, here on Friday. After offering prayers at the Sri Venugopala Swamy shrine located on the premises, he milked a cow and handed over the milk to temple priests for performing ‘Abhishekam’ to the deity.Amid Vedic chants, Mr. Ravichandra applied turmeric to the foreheads of cows and calves and adorned them with new clothes and floral garlands as a mark of reverence.Recalling the revered place accorded to the ‘Gomata’ in Sanatana Dharma, Mr. Ravichandra said the TTD would continue to accord top priority to cow protection. He also announced measures to develop the dairy farm.Later, Mr. Ravichandra attended a programme organised to offer ‘Japa books’ containing the sacred chant ‘Om Namo Venkatesaya’, written seven crore times.Tirupati MLA Arani Srinivasulu, TTD Trust Board member G.
