Tsunami torpedo to ‘Flying Chernobyl’ – Putin’s most terrifying WW3 weapons…and he has them aimed to hit Britain in MINS

TYRANNICAL Russia is inching closer to all-out war with the West by the day, with ‘enemy number one’ Britain feared to be terrifyingly exposed to the most powerful of Vladimir Putin’s deadliest weapons. In the latest example of chilling World War Three brinkmanship, last week a train carrying Boris Johnson narrowly avoided a Russian drone strike by just minutes. European officials have warned the blitz may have been a direct attempt to target the former prime minister. The brazen attack demonstrates how Putin has “no limits”, according to former British Army officer Hamish de Bretton-Gordon. He told The Sun: “That came very close to being what we call an Article 5 incident that could have triggered a major Nato response. We’ve got to be aware that we are getting closer and closer to that sort of possibility.” There are fears Britain would be woefully under-prepared to deal with an all-out attack given the scale of Moscow’s munitions. Russian military expert Keir Giles said it is “not just the frontline states that are at risk”, but also countries far behind it, including the UK. He told The Sun: “Especially those that have not invested in integrated air and missile defence systems to try to keep these Russian weapons at bay.” Britain is already locked in a bitter shadow war with Russia as Putin continues to wage increasingly perilous sabotage plots across the continent. Explosive threats have been exchanged between London and Moscow in recent weeks after the UK gave Ukraine its prized blueprints for making powerful Storm Shadow missiles to rain hell on Russian targets. The Kremlin accused Britain of participating in the war and said No10 was “playing with fire” over the move. Russia has also stepped up its dark arts campaign across Europe – launching cyber attacks, planting bomb-rigged drones and causing power outages in major Nato players like Germany. De Bretton-Gordon said: “We are less protected now than we were during the Cold War. It is possible that if Russia fired multiple missiles at the UK, they could create a significant amount of damage.” POSEIDON TORPEDO One of the weapons Putin has on the cards is his notorious Poseidon torpedo – thought to be able to unleash radioactive tsunami waves. Last October, Moscow claimed it had tested the nuclear-capable sea rocket as the Russian dictator boasted it was unstoppable. Kremlin cronies touting the weapon claimed it could shoot along at 120mph underwater with a constantly changing route, making it hard to intercept, at depths of below 3,000ft. But it is still unclear if the Poseidon would ever work, Russian nuclear forces expert Pavel Podvig said. He told The Sun: “The early information about it was quite worrying – it was said that it can carry a radiological bomb to contaminate a large area. “But it is not clear if this plan will even materialise.” The blood-curdling Poseidon test came just days after Russia put its Burevestnik missile through its paces. The experimental low-flying cruise missile is both nuclear-capable and nuclear-powered. Defence experts have branded it the “Flying Chernobyl” – warning that Putin’s reckless super-weapon risks spewing lethal radioactive fallout across his own backyard. The Kremlin has long hailed the “invincible” monstrosity which reportedly boasts an unlimited range and top speeds of nearly 1,000km per hour – meaning it could hit Britain in two-and-a-half hours. Rather than a viable battlefield weapon, it is seen more as a scaremongering tactic – with its lethal radioactive trail making it as much of a threat to Russia as it is to the West. Giles said the purpose of many of these weapons was to “intimidate Western countries and promise them destruction if they do not submit to what Russia demands”. “Russia uses its weapons not by firing them but by intimidating people into being overawed by the myth of Russian military might,” he added. TOXIC CHEMICALS Moscow has abused chloropicrin, a toxic choking agent, on the frontline against Ukrainian soldiers throughout the war – despite it being banned under international law. Russia has already proved its harrowing chemical capabilities with the death of Dawn Sturgess – a Brit mum who was killed after being exposed to Novichok, a powerful nerve agent. The deadly drug found itself on British soil after a botched Russian assassination attempt on ex-spy Sergei Skripal and his daughter in 2018. “The Russians could use some more toxic chemical weapons, something like Novichok, one of the most deadly nerve agents ever produced,” he said. There’s no clear sign of Moscow stockpiling the deadliest agents in vast quantities, but Putin could still unleash “lesser chemical weapons” to terrorise targets on the battlefield or in Europe. VACUUM BOMB Russia has also unleashed cataclysmic thermobaric weapons – also known as vacuum bombs – in Ukraine. These release an initial cloud of explosive gas, which is then ignited by a second explosion that causes a massive blast capable of vaporising humans. Civilians caught up in the initial gas leak would even start running out of oxygen as the fuel fills the air. SATAN 2 Another dreaded weapon in Russia’s munition stockpile is the so-called Satan 2 missile. Officially named the RS-28 Sarmat, this barbaric intercontinental ballistic missile is considered Putin’s crown jewel bomb. With a neck-breaking speed of Mach 20, it could reach the UK in just five minutes, Kremlin cronies claim. The Russian despot has also increased the number of nuclear warheads deployed to a nine-year high, the Stockholm International Peace Research Institute (SIPRI) warned last week. In the past year, the Kremlin has added 78 of them to missiles and bombers, bringing the total of ready-to-go atomic weapons to 1,796. The primed nukes include Russia’s Kinzhal hypersonic ballistic missiles -which have already been used to wreak havoc in Ukraine. Despite Moscow consistently touting a terrifying array of arms – the consequences of such weapons would be dwarfed in the face of a nuclear bomb. Russia has the potential to “unleash incalculable destruction on the world” with nuclear weapons if it wishes to, Giles warned, though it is unlikely. The key to understanding Putin’s deadly arsenal is realising it mainly exists as a form of Kremlin propaganda to scare Nato into submission, he warned. As the Kremlin ramps up its nuclear sabre-rattling, Putin retains his ultimate weapon: the constant, looming threat that he might one day stop bluffing.
