The Try Guys are bringing back their cooking competition series “Without a Recipe” for a ninth season. Season 9 will run as a six-episode elimination tournament that premieres on Nov. 7 on the independent streamer 2nd Try before heading to YouTube on Nov. 14. The season will be hosted by JonnyCakes, the popular creator known for creating cakes that hyper-realistically resemble other objects, who was a contestant on Netflix’s “Is It Cake?” and has judged “Without a Recipe” in the past. Try Guys Keith Habersberger and Zach Kornfeld will compete as contestants on Season 9 alongside Ryan Garcia, Joyce Louis-Jean, Ash Perez, Sequoia B. Holmes, Kwesi James and Ryann Graham. The season will be judged by Rhoda Magbitang, who won “Top Chef” Season 23; Elizabeth Falkner, a chef and TV personality; Valerie Gordon, the chef and owner of Valerie Confections and author of the James Beard Award finalist cookbook “Sweets”; Trevor Evarts, a Smosh cast member and former Mythical Kitchen culinary producer; and Jimmy Wong, an actor, host and cookbook author; as well as a group of chefs and pastry professionals that includes Jude Parra-Sickles, Monique Chan, Kat Turner, Katianna Hong, Mitzi Reyes, Jen Yee and Johnny Ryan Murphy. The Try Guys launched their paid streamer 2nd Try in 2024 after amassing a significant following first as BuzzFeed employees and later on their own YouTube channel. Series on their service and channel include “Phoning It In,” “Trolley Problems,” “Escape the Kitchen,” “Smoke Show,” “Eat the Menu” and “After the Menu.”
