Donald Trump’s Truth Social has seen a staggering drop in users — despite the president’s steady stream of daily posts on the platform. Truth Social’s traffic fell more than 30 percent over the past year, according to data from digital intelligence firm Similarweb. The social media platform averaged about 260,000 daily users last month, a sharp drop from its peak of 420,000 in June 2025. Trump, who has the largest fanbase out of any Truth Social user with over 13 million followers, shares a mixed bag of AI-generated images, positive news coverage and all-caps announcements on the platform every day. The president is also known for his posting sprees, sharing a flurry of content in a short period of time. Most recently, on Wednesday, his account shared roughly 25 posts in a matter of hours, including an AI video of himself wrestling a tiger that recently mauled a man to death in the UK. The drop leaves Truth Social falling behind more established competitor platforms like Facebook, which has more than 2 billion daily users, and X, formerly Twitter, which has over 130 million daily users across the globe, according to Backlinko. The company, whose activities span Truth Social, digital assets, and forthcoming access to prediction markets, attributed the losses to “unrealized losses on digital assets, digital assets pledged, and equity securities ($368.7 million), accreted interest ($11.5 million), and stock based compensation ($11.8 million).” The president’s media company, of which his family owns a near-majority stake, has seen net losses grow over the past three years too more than $712 million in 2025, up from $400.9 million in 2024. The platform also faced issues last month when the city of San Francisco sued the company for its plan to sell early access to the president’s post. The lawsuit describes the Truth API service, which costs customers $100,000 per month, as a “corrupt business scheme” that represents insider trading. The posts can include announcements of government decisions that can move markets, such as news about trade tariffs, central bank policy and announcements about foreign policy decisions. The Trump family owns a near majority stake in his media company (AFP/Getty)Truth Social’s troubles comes as Trump faces record-low approval ratings just weeks out from the midterm elections. A new Fox News poll found 36 percent of respondents approved of Trump’s overall handling of the presidency, while 64 percent disapproved. The president launched Truth Social between his presidencies in 2022, after Facebook, YouTube and Twitter banned him from their services following the January 6, 2021 attacks on the U.S. Capitol. Trump Media & Technology Group, did not immediately respond to a request for comment from The Independent.
