DONALD Trump has warned China and Russia that interfering in Iran war “would be very bad for them”. It comes after US intelligence launched an investigation into whether Russia helped Iran target CIA facilities in the Gulf in March. The US president posted on Truth Social: “President Putin, despite the horrible War going on in Ukraine (The relationship remains, as it does with President Zelenskyy), told me that he would not sell Weapons to Iran. Trump claims Tehran wants to make a deal to end the war Credit: EPA Defence secretary Pete Hegseth says China and Russia were ‘enabling some of the things Iran is doing’ Credit: EPA Speaking from the Oval Office on Friday night, he said there were two ways to end the war: “There’s a military exit where we just keep going just the way we are and we can even make it a heavier dose and knocking out everything they have.” “Or there’s a smarter strategy and that’s they make a deal.” The US president claimed Iran wants to make a deal, but said: “Sometimes they don’t wanna say they wanna make a deal, they wanna be the tough guys.” He said talks were ongoing with the regime, telling reporters: “As we speak we’re talking to them.” Most read in The Sun Defence secretary Pete Hegseth was asked if Russia and China were helping Iran this week. He said there were details that “ought to remain classified” but admitted that China and Russia were “enabling some of the things Iran is doing”. Trump said China’s President Xi had also promised that “he would not, under any circumstances, give or sell Weapons to the Islamic Republic of Iran”. The US president insisted that the two countries were “not participating”. But he warned: “If they did, it would be very bad for them — Certainly not in their best interests.” Speaking to reporters later at the White House, Trump said he trusted both leaders. “I don’t know that they’re enabling (Iran),” Trump said. “I think I trust them.” Sources said US intelligence officials have not yet reached firm conclusions Putin’s potential involvement in Iranian attacks on CIA facilities. They said the precision of the hits and Russia’s broader tech support for the regime suggested Kremlin involvement. At least two CIA sites were hit in March, one in Saudi Arabia and another in eastern Iraq. Some sources said even more CIA sites had been blitzed, but did not reveal further details. Concerns that the Kremlin could be pumping intel to Iran intensified after strikes on a US-linked base in Jordan killed two soldiers. Trump also promised “major military punishment” for Iran and its Houthi allies after the strikes on two Saudi oil tankers in the Red Sea. It comes after Iran rejected a new peace deal. A fresh ceasefire deal was handed over to Tehran by Iraq’s prime minister, Ali al-Zaidi, on behalf of the US president on Thursday but the regime flat out refused the terms. Iran’s top officials showed no interest in the proposal, according to the New York Times. The terms of the truce remain unclear, but Iranian officials described it as the “only offer on the table” and a “temporary deal” . It comes as Trump warned he was seriously considering restarting major combat operations against the rogue nation after almost two weeks of renewed strikes. “I am considering a massive attack. Bigger than ever before,” Trump told Axios. “I am close to making a decision. We are all set for it.” Asked whether any operation would be carried out alongside Israel, Trump said the country “would join in two minutes if I ask them to”. But Trump stopped short of saying US forces would require Israeli support. He also warned there would be “consequences” if Israel took part, hinting Iran could seek revenge against its regional rival. Comment now
