Trump teases 2028 ambitions as he tells Iowa rally crowd he 'has the right' to run for a third term

President Donald Trump once again teased that he wanted to run for a third term, telling his Iowa rally crowd Thursday night that he 'has the right' to do it. Trump has long flirted with running again despite the Constitution's 22nd Amendment expressly forbidding it. Supporters of the President have pushed that he's merely doing it to troll Democrats, as he often gives away 'Trump 2028' hats. On Thursday he was at it again, telling attendees in Sioux City, Iowa, 'I don't know who's going to be your next President.' 'And I think the law said - I'm not 100 percent sure - I'm not allowed to run again,' he said, eliciting boos from the masses. The President claimed that recent polling shows 'I'd kill everybody, I'd beat 'em.' 'I've studied that phrase forever, unfortunately it's quite concise, there's not a lot of wiggle room,' he continued. 'It says something to the effect that: "Under no circumstances, and for any reason, will you even consider thinking about running for President if you had,"' Trump said before changing tack. 'Well, the one thing is different. They cheated us on the second one because we won it three times. So I think I have the right to run again,' he proclaimed. 'I think I have the right to run again, because they cheated.' President Donald Trump again teased running in 2028, telling an audience at a rally in Sioux City, Iowa that he believes he 'has the right' to run for a third term, despite the Constitution expressly forbidding it President Donald Trump dances onstage at a rally in Sioux City, Iowa ahead of the November midterms in which his party's Senate and gubernatorial candidates are locked in tight battles with their Democratic rivalsTrump has falsely maintained that he won the 2020 election over Democratic President Joe Biden, despite there being no evidence of widespread election fraud. Recent polling has shown Trump at a record low for his second term, nearing where he stood with the American public in the aftermath of the January 6, 2021 Capitol attack, which was motivated by the President's false election fraud claims. Trump was in Iowa to boost Republican Senate hopeful, Representative Ashley Hinson, who is deadlocked in the polls against Democrat Josh Turek. Polling also shows the Democratic gubernatorial candidate Rob Sand ahead of his GOP counterpart Zach Lahn. Trump won Iowa all three times he was on the ballot, after the state's voters twice selected Democratic President Barack Obama. The President opened his Thursday night rally in the far western part of the state by telling the audience how much he loved the farmers. But then he drifted to other topics and political races in other states. He bashed Minnesota Democratic Representative Ilhan Omar, suggesting she's disqualified from being in Congress because she used a 'fake name' to be sworn in and continued to falsely push that she married her brother. Ramaswamy is under fire for green-lighting a spot that stars the estranged mother of his Democratic rival, Dr. Amy Acton.A grand jury found that Acton's stepfather sexually abused her as a child and she was taken out of her mother's custody at age 12. 'I said, you gotta ride with it,' Trump said he encouraged Ramaswamy. He blasted the controversy and the press for asking questions about it. 'You mean you have a mother that said terrible things about, who knows, the daughter? She really said she was a horrible liar? I mean, it was crazy. And he made a commercial, he put it up, like I would do, like most people would do,' Trump said. The President then said he was confronted with a 'massive scrum of press' who were going 'crazy' about it, pinpointing one journalist from ABC News.'This woman starts screaming. I recognize her immediately. Not a particularly attractive person inside or out. In fact, I just am amazed that these people could be reporters or anchors,' Trump said.
