Trump says US could end Iran war quickly or let it 'wither'

US President Donald Trump said on Friday that Washington could end the war with Iran quickly, but questioned whether to seek a swift conclusion or let the conflict wind down gradually. "We could end it very quickly," Trump said. "Do we want to finish it off or just want to let it wither?" Speaking to reporters on the White House South Lawn before departing for Florida, Trump said oil was passing through the Strait of Hormuz. "We are getting everything we want,” he said. He praised the US Navy for doing a “great job” of helping secure the passage of oil through the waterway and repeated his earlier claim that Hormuz was “totally ours and that’s the way we’ll keep it”.
