Trump says Nato 'weren't there to help' during war on Iran

US President Donald Trump has slammed Nato allies, saying they "weren't there to help" Washington during its war on Iran. "We stand with Europe despite its flaws, its weaknesses…But if they don't soon find their way, and they have to find their way, we will have no choice but to leave," he said at a campaign rally. "We spend hundreds of billions of dollars a year on Nato protecting them, but when we said, 'Would you like to help?' 'No, thank you.' 'Oh, no thank you?' What does that mean, 'No, thank you'?" Trump added that the US spent "so much money on Nato", adding that they "weren't there to help" and that its something Washington "can never really forget".
