US president Donal Trump told rally goers in Grand Island, Nebraska, that high gas prices were a "small price to pay" for keeping the country and the world safe. "It’s a little bit high. It’s a small price to pay for keeping the world safe, keeping our country safe," he said during the event. "This is a very small price to pay, and it’s gonna be over with very soon. It’s essentially almost over with." Trump also falsely claimed that oil prices are lower under his administration in comparison to Joe Biden's, adding that the cost of petrol would fall below $1.85 per gallon (3.8 litres) "in a very short period of time". "Just so you understand, we’re saving this country… and the world from what could be one of the worst tragedies ever," he added, reiterating that the US is not going to allow Iran access to nuclear weapon.
