President Donald Trump took to his Truth Social account to ridicule the projected election loss of Alex Vindman to Florida state Rep. Angie Nixon, a member of the Democratic Socialists of America, on Tuesday night in Florida’s Democratic Senate primary.“SleazeBag Vindman loses tonight to a Radical Left Lunatic. How cool is that???” Trump posted. Vindman is the former Director of European Affairs for the National Security Council, where he was a catalyst for Trump’s first impeachment in 2019. During his testimony, Vindman raised ethical concerns about a phone call between Trump and Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky on July 25, 2019. During the call, Vindman accused Trump of withholding $400 million in military aid to Ukraine, as well as an invitation for Zelensky to visit the White House, in exchange for Ukraine publicly stating it was investigating then-presidential candidate Joe Biden. Trump would ultimately be acquitted of the charges by the Senate on Feb. 5, 2020. Vindman’s loss to Nixon has been categorized as a ”stunning upset,” given that Vindman reportedly had a hefty cash advantage in the campaign, raising 16 times more in funds than Nixon — $16 million to Nixon’s less than $1 million. Vindman is also the twin brother of Rep. Eugene Vindman (D-VA).SOCIALIST NIXON UPSETS TRUMP WHISTLEBLOWER VINDMAN TO WIN FLORIDA SENATE PRIMARYNixon will advance to the general election in November to face Sen. Ashley Moody (R-FL).
