Trump posts odd Elvis Presley pic and makes wild claims about Vietnam war on eve of midterms

Days away from the midterm elections, President Trump posted a surreal picture of his face side-by-side with Elvis Presley and claimed he would have won the Vietnam War.Trump uploaded the picture, which shows the right half of his face beside the left half of the King of Rock and Roll’s, late on Sunday night. That same day, he told attendees at a rally that it would have taken him a week to win the near-20-year Vietnam War.The commander-in-chief, whose party is heading into what could be a difficult midterm election cycle, did not caption the Elvis image when he uploaded it to Truth Social, nor did he explain why he posted it.However, Trump has often shared his love for the legendary singer and even bestowed him with a posthumous Presidential Medal of Freedom during his first term.Earlier this year, Trump toured Graceland - the iconic mansion that Elvis once called home - while appearing in Memphis to talk about the deployment of federal law enforcement to combat crime rates.President Trump uploaded a photograph of his face beside that of Elvis Presley (pictured) just days from the midterm elections (Truth Social/@RealDonaldTrump)“Elvis would be very happy about that,” Trump quipped, referring to a reduction in crime rates, before adding: “I love Elvis.”“All my life I have heard about Graceland,” Trump also said during the trip. “I was around with Elvis in his semi-prime, at least, right?”Trump’s post comes just two days before millions of Americans will head to the polls for the midterm elections.Ahead of the elections, polls have shown that the Democratic Party could increase its power in Congress - with Republicans currently holding a majority in both the House and the Senate.Despite the GOP facing grim polling figures and voter frustration with the Trump administration’s record on the cost-of-living and war in Iran, the president has encouraged voters to “pretend” that he is on the ballot.Trump toured Graceland earlier this year and told workers at the historic estate: ‘I love Elvis’ (AFP/Getty)Also on Sunday, Trump appeared at a rally in Dubuque, Iowa, where he spoke about the ongoing situation with Iran and military action at the start of the year that resulted in the capture of former Venezuelan President Nicolás Maduro.“Vietnam, 21 years, thousands and thousands of people killed, hundreds of thousands of people killed,” Trump said, remarking on previous conflicts. “Afghanistan, years and years… We never fight to win.”“I could have won the Vietnam War in a week, you know,” he suggested. “They dropped whatever the hell that red c**p is that they…kept dropping it in the forest.”Then, an audience member shouted to Trump that the chemical in question was Agent Orange - a herbicide used by the U.S. Military to kill forests in Vietnam in order to remove enemy cover.Trump told attendees at a rally in Iowa that he would have won the Vietnam War in just 'one week' (AFP/Getty)“Agent Orange, even though it’s red,” Trump said, before seemingly confusing the name of a Vietnamese city: “Agent Orange, they drop it in the forest for years and years and years, instead of going after Ho Chi Minh City and the different places.“I would have won that war in one week.”Ho Chi Minh City, once known as Saigon, was the capital of South Vietnam - which was allied with the U.S.Hanoi was the capital of communist North Vietnam.
