President Donald Trump is adding another project to his efforts to beautify Washington — updating the grass across the parks in the nation’s capital.“We’re changing all the grass at all the parks,” Trump said Wednesday afternoon during an Oval Office event.“Grass is like human beings,” the president continued. “Grass has a life also, and we’re changing, we’re raking, cleaning, and changing all of the parks.” His comments about the grass at parks followed his announcement for a $22 billion renovation of Washington Dulles International Airport over the next two years.Since returning to the White House last year, Trump has relied on his background as a real estate developer to change the appearance of Washington. The National Guard has been deployed to the city; the Lincoln Memorial reflecting pool is being repainted; the Kennedy Center was renamed to the Trump-Kennedy Center before a judge ordered the president’s name stripped from the building; a White House ballroom is under construction; and a triumphal arch to celebrate the nation’s 250th birthday has been planned.Trump claims these efforts are necessary to restore the nation’s capital from persistent homelessness.TRUMP ANNOUNCES TWO-YEAR, $22 BILLION DULLES AIRPORT RENOVATION“We don’t have people. We don’t have the tents anymore. We don’t have all the barbed wire up,” Trump said. “Washington’s become a beautiful city. It’s become a hot city. But you know, even more importantly, the United States right now is the hottest country anywhere in the world.”The president did not specify the exact parks where grass will be updated or how long the project would take. Many parks are managed by the National Park Service, while local parks are under the jurisdiction of Washington’s Department of Parks and Recreation.
