Trump and Natalie Harp Sued Over Truth Social Insider Trading Scheme

President Trump and his aide Natalie Harp are the targets of a new lawsuit over the “Truth API” program, which offers Truth Social users early access to posts from government officials for $100,000 a month.The suit was filed last Thursday by watchdog groups American Oversight and Campaign for Accountability, which argue that the president is essentially running a pay-to-play scheme, offering crucial information that impacts global markets and policy decisions to the highest bidder.“Information the Trump Administration disseminates on Truth Social through its official accounts can have significant consequences for the global economy,” the suit reads.Harp is named as defendant, as the lawsuit recognizes her as “the primary White House staffer responsible” for posting for Trump on Truth Social.“President Trump and members of his administration are exploiting their offices to benefit a private company owned by the President, his family members, and allies,” said Samuel Davis, an attorney at Gerstein Harrow, LLP working on the suit. “This brazen scheme is illegal many times over and is an affront to the basic principle that the government exists to serve the people, not to enrich cronies and insiders.”On Monday, the city of San Francisco followed up with its own lawsuit, arguing that Truth API is a “corrupt business scheme” that violates federal laws against insider trading as well as California’s Unfair Competition Law. That lawsuit targets Trump Media & Technology group and does not mention Harp specifically.Trump has yet to respond to news of either lawsuit.President Trump attempted to keep CNN from covering his speech at the U.N. There will be no replacement pool put in place.”CNN, Politico, and MS NOW are suing the president over the ban, but that doesn’t mean they will cease reporting about Trump altogether. He doesn’t seem to understand that, probably hoping that the ban and boycott mean he won’t be challenged and there won’t be anything critical published about him. CNN Washington bureau chief David Chalian joined anchor Pamela Brown Tuesday morning to discuss the damning results of a recent CNN survey taking the public temperature on Trump’s extended military campaign in the Middle East. The poll found that nearly two-thirds, or 64 percent, of respondents said that the United States was not winning the war against Iran. That result is especially humiliating for Trump considering that the president has spent months falsely claiming that the U.S. has already won the conflict.Even worse, only 26 percent of respondents approved of how Trump was handling the war. “That was 33 percent back in March,” Chalian said. “This has never been a popular war, Pamela, but it’s down seven points here overall, largely driven by Republicans abandoning the president on this issue.“He’s down 13 percentage points in Republican approval of his handling of the war,” Chalian continued. “This war is nothing short of a political disaster for Donald Trump.”Trump’s supposedly “six-week war” has extended to more than seven months with no sign of stopping ahead of November’s midterm elections—in a troubling sign for the president’s party.Last week, multiple U.S. military sources claimed that more service members had died in the conflict than previously disclosed by the Department of Defense.
