Truck driver reported after losing concrete load on major SA road

A driver has been reported over a multi-car crash in which concrete slabs fell onto the North-South Motorway, in Adelaide's north.SA Police said the incident occurred when vehicles were merging into the southbound lane in front of "a truck laden with concrete slabs" just after 10:30am on Friday, July 10.Footage previously released by SA Police shows the truck losing its load, near Bolivar.In a statement, police said the truck lost two 15-tonne concrete segments, which they alleged fell into the roadway and collided with three cars parked on the side of the road."Two pedestrians were standing next to a broken-down vehicle on the shoulder of the road and were struck by the parked cars," police said."One of the pedestrians was taken to hospital by ambulance with a suspected broken arm."Another two people sustained minor injuries, police said.They reported a 38-year-old man from Para Hills West for causing harm by dangerous driving, using a mobile phone while driving, failing to wear a seatbelt and a severe risk load restraint breach.The man was also issued with a 12-month immediate loss of licence.He will be summonsed to appear in court at a later date.
