Triumph Bonneville T40 at EICMA 2026: Does the RE Classic 350 finally have a challenger?

For many years now, many manufacturers have tried to challenge the iconic Royal Enfield Classic 350. Now Triumph is trying to do the same with the Triumph Bonneville T4.The bike features the iconic teardrop-shaped fuel tank with hand-painted pinstripes, classic round LED headlamps and wire-spoked wheels. The T4 gets a circular 4-inch TFT display with integrated turn-by-turn navigation and smartphone connectivity. There are five riding modes, including Road, Rain, Eco and two customisable maps. Other features include cruise control, Cornering ABS, switchable Cornering Traction Control and a USB-C charging port. The motorcycle features relaxed ergonomics, a standard seat height of 790mm, which can be lowered to 770mm, and a lightweight chassis with a kerb weight of just 191kg. A centre stand is also offered as standard.Powering the bike is a 350cc single-cylinder liquid-cooled engine as seen in the other single-cylinder Triumphs. The engine in the Bonneville makes 29bhp and 31.2Nm of torque. The use of the 350cc engine also ensures that the T40 can avoid the additional taxes recently imposed by the Indian Government, and this will allow for a rather interesting price. The standard Bonneville T40 gets a choice of two-tone colour schemes with chrome and brushed-metal finishes, including Aegean Blue/Fusion White, Meriden Blue/Tangerine Orange and New England White/Jet Black. The T40 Black takes a more understated approach. It features a combination of Matt Pewter Grey and Matt Phantom Black, complemented by all-black detailing and gloss-black aluminium rims.Subscribe to Auto Today Magazine - Ends
