Govarthan Erode Collector S. Kandasamy paid floral tributes to the statue of former Chief Minister and Dravidian leader late C.N. Annadurai at the Thanthai Periyar–Anna Memorial on Periyar Street here on Tuesday (September 15, 2026), marking his 118th birth anniversary.The memorial, maintained by the Information and Public Relations Department of the Tamil Nadu Government, includes the house where Thanthai Periyar lived. Anna had stayed there while working for Periyar’s publication during his years in Erode. Several items associated with Anna, including the table and chair he used for writing, a kerosene lamp and the kitchen, have been preserved.The memorial also houses a library with Tamil and English books, including donated volumes. More than 155 photographs depicting events attended by Anna and Periyar, their meetings with prominent leaders and collections of their letters are on display.Modakkurichi MLA T. Shanmugam, Corporation Mayor S. Nagarathinam, Commissioner Arpit Jain, District Revenue Officer S. Shantha Kumar, Chief Educational Officer E.
