Trial date set for man accused of murdering 14-year-old girl

A man accused of murdering a Tasmanian teenager will face trial in April next year, almost four years after her death.Scottsdale man Christopher Mark Jordan, who has pleaded not guilty to murdering 14-year-old Shyanne-Lee Tatnell, appeared in the Supreme Court in Launceston via video link from Risdon Prison today.Justice Michael Brett told the court the trial date has been listed for April 19 next year, four years after the Burnie teenager went missing while staying at a Launceston youth hostel.Following an extensive search, her remains were found almost three months later, off a dirt track at Nabowla, north-east of Launceston.Mr Jordan was arrested the next day.He was charged with murder and pleaded not guilty in 2024.The trial is expected to take five weeks and will be heard by Justice Brett.Another directions hearing, in which parties are expected to discuss any pre-trial issues, has been listed for November 27, 2026.
