Trevor Nelson confirms BBC Radio 2 return after brain tumour surgery

Trevor Nelson has confirmed he will return to host his BBC Radio 2 show on Monday September 7, after undergoing surgery for a brain tumour.The broadcaster, 62, shared a post to Instagram in June saying he was taking a break from work commitments to deal with “health issues”.In another post in August, Nelson said his “world was turned upside down” when he found out he had a tumour.He confirmed his return to the airwaves during an appearance on the Sara Cox Breakfast Show on Friday morning.He said: “Oh hi Sara Cox… have I missed anything? Now where were we before I was rudely interrupted?“It’s been a minute, I know… but over the next few weeks I’m getting back to where I belong… in the Radio 2 studio, behind the microphone and spinning some records.“It’s so good to be home and I’d be delighted if you could join me Monday afternoon from 2.“Just ask your smart speaker to play BBC Radio 2, but for now Sara… it’s Fri-yayyyyy!”Nelson is making a staggered return to Radio 2, getting behind the mic for two days next week – Monday (7th) and Wednesday (9th); three days the week after – Monday (14th), Wednesday (16th), and Friday (18th); and four days the following week – Monday (21st), Tuesday (22nd), Thursday (24th) and Friday (25th); before returning full-time from Monday September 28.Cox said of Nelson’s return: “We are absolutely thrilled, Trevor.
