Trevon Brazile showing out in NBA Summer League

All three of Arkansas’ draft picks from this past year are competing in the NBA Summer League, and the last one selected is making his presence felt. After being selected by the Denver Nuggets with the 35th overall pick in the second round, Brazile hit the ground running in Las Vegas. His first game was light from a scoring perspective, just five points, but he also compiled 11 total rebounds, five of which came on the offensive end. He added a three-pointer in the contest as well. Brazile missed the next game. Then came the real breakout against Oklahoma City. The Springfield, Missouri, native would not be denied and finished the game with 32 points, 19 of which came in the first half. He connected from deep six times, one of which came from near the half-court line at the buzzer at the end of the first half. Brazile took the floor again on Thursday night against the Portland Trailblazers and while he didn’t match his scoring burst against OKC, he was effective all over the floor. Midway through the first quarter, he blocked a dunk attempt that led to a three on the other end from former Alabama guard Mark Sears. And, as was the case at Arkansas, no good Trevon Brazile game is complete without one highlight dunk. Brazile finished the game with 19 points to go along with eight rebounds. He also had three assists, two steals and three blocks in the game. Through three games of Summer League action, Brazile is averaging 18.7 points, 8.3 rebounds and 1.3 blocks per game. His former teammate, Meleek Thomas, leads the scoring category among all players in the Summer League at 28.3 points per game.
