Transport Minister Byrathi Suresh instructed officials to provide first-aid facilities wherever required. | Photo Credit: File photo Transport Minister Byrathi Suresh expressed displeasure after finding that the Namma Clinic operating at the Bengaluru Metropolitan Transport Corporation (BMTC) bus station in Majestic had no doctor during his surprise inspection on Monday (August 31).Mr. Suresh immediately directed the BMTC managing director to coordinate with the Health Department Commissioner and ensure that a doctor is posted at the clinic without delay. He also instructed officials to provide first-aid facilities wherever required so that commuters can access immediate medical assistance during emergencies.He made a surprise visit to the KSRTC and BMTC bus stations at Majestic and inspected passenger facilities, cleanliness and other services being provided to commuters.Suresh also visited several shops at the bus station and checked their cleanliness. He instructed shopkeepers not to charge passengers more than the prescribed price for products. He also checked the luggage counter and asked passengers whether they were being charged more than the prescribed amount. The passengers told him that no additional charges were being collected.Later, Mr. Suresh visited the BMTC student bus pass counter and sat at a computer terminal to interact with students and understand the problems they were facing. He directed officials to ensure that the distribution of free student bus passes was carried out smoothly without delays or lapses.Mr. Suresh appreciated the BMTC and KSRTC staff for the overall cleanliness, upkeep and maintenance of the bus terminal.
