The deceased, identified as Avantika Sindhu, was a resident of Paharpur in West Champaran’s Bettiah.Avantika had arrived in Jamalpur for training with a batch of 500 trainees from the Patna Police Lines. The group included 16 transgender personnel. According to fellow trainees, Avantika had been unwell for several days and had been staying away from parade and training activities.On Sunday, while the rest of the batch went for training, Avantika remained inside the barracks. When the trainees returned in the evening, they noticed she was missing and began searching for her. She was eventually found hanging inside the barracks’ bathroom.Her colleagues immediately rushed her to the Jamalpur Primary Health Centre, where medical officer declared her dead on arrival. The circumstances surrounding the death have raised questions, particularly as the incident occurred inside a heavily secured training camp. Police are investigating whether Avantika died by suicide or whether there were other factors involved.Following the incident officials questioned Avantika’s fellow trainees, including her close associates, in a closed-door session. The police have sent the body for post-mortem examination. Police said the exact cause of death would be established after the post-mortem report.
