TRAINSPOTTING: The Musical is facing a huge comedown – after its nationwide run was cancelled due to poor ticket sales. A source said: “It’s a massive shame but after Trainspotting: The Musical finishes in London the nationwide tour isn’t going ahead. Today, fans trying to buy tickets for shows outside of London are met with an automated message which reads: “This performance is no longer available.” The musical was backed by Irvine and was directed by Caroline Jay Ranger, who is behind the hugely successful Only Fools And Horses musical and the Fawlty Towers production. A production source said the cast and backstage team had all been informed of the news, with one admitting they were gutted. Most read in Showbiz An insider said: “The whole team who worked on Trainspotting: The Musical are absolutely bereft. “It’s been in the works for some time and so much time and effort has gone into making that show what it is. “The reviews had been mixed but for genuine fans of Trainspotting, we felt it hit all the right notes. “Theatre is tough and it’s not unusual for things like this to happen.
