A TERRIFIED mum asked a friend to look after her children as a driver tore through roads at 100mph before killing her in a crash. Prosecutor Omar Ahmad said: “Jade Duncan then made a further call to her friend and said ‘he’s f***ing hit a car, we are in a field, he’s doing 100mph, he’s going to kill us. Will you look after my bairns? “During this time her friend overheard the defendant in the background shouting and repeatedly telling Jade Duncan to ‘shut the f**k up’, to which she responded he had just hit a car. “Miss Duncan informed her friend they were in Haddington in a field because they had just crashed the car and the defendant was going to kill her. “At around 8pm the friend received a video call from Miss Duncan, who could see them driving towards another car. She can be heard screaming and the defendant manages to stop just in time.” Jade’s family have paid tribute Credit: NNP The car was flung 48m The court the video call was the last contact the friend had with Jade before the Peugeot smashed into a roundabout in January. Jade and Hogan were catapulted 48m through the air in Berwick-upon-Tweed, Northumberland, before the car hit an embankment. Most read in The Sun The mum, from Dundee, suffered catastrophic torso injuries and died at the scene. Hogan, aka Mark Goulding, 46, pleaded guilty to causing death by dangerous driving, causing death by driving while disqualified and causing death by driving while uninsured. He was today jailed for 13 years and four months with a four year extended licence period. The court was told he had been given a 16 month jail term, suspended for 12 months with a 15 month road ban, just five days before the fatal crash. Hogan had also been banned from driving twice before and the Peugeot had failed its last MOT with “dangerous” faults. Judge Penny Moreland told him: “You showed an utter disregard for the risk of danger to others. “You have a long history of blatant disregard for the rules of the road. “Your repeated periods of disqualification lead me to think there will be a risk when you are released from custody.” The court heard Hogan suffered a life changing brain injury in the crash and remembers nothing about what happened. He was more than twice the drink-drive limit and spent two months in hospital in a coma. In a victim impact statement, Jade’s daughter Raychel said: “I want to begin by saying this collision was entirely preventable. “My family now have to live with the devastating consequences of the aftermath because you Sean Hogan should not have been driving. “I will never forget the moment the police told me what had happened. My world and my family’s world came crashing down.” Her son Robbie added: “My mam was everything to us. She was the heart of our family, the person who kept us together and the one everyone turned to for help and advice.”
