After his successful stint as Kevin Pearson in This Is Us, Justin Hartley debuted the rewardist who roams the country to find missing people in 2024. As previously-announced, it is maintaining its slot on Sunday nights, with Marshals as its lead in. No other information has been shared about what's next for Colter and his allies, such as story details about the season opener, but with production already ongoing, the public could get some fun updates from the set thanks to potential social media postings by people involved in the project. CBS Outside what happened in its storytelling, the 2025-2026 TV cycle particularly stood out for Tracker, as it was the first year in its history that it was dethroned as the most-watched show on traditional broadcast. When it premiered in February 2024, the show didn't waste time finding its audience and immediately shot up to the top of the ratings, even toppling NCIS's five-year reign. The arrival of Taylor Sheridan and Luke Grimes' Marshals ended its dominance. For what it's worth, the discrepancy between Tracker and Marshals' ratings weren't too wide. All throughout the year, they were going back-and-forth when it came to topping the chart week-after-week. Depending on what happens to both shows and, of course, how CBS markets them, viewers might be looking at another intense ratings battle between them when they return this fall. In any case, a healthy competition isn't all that bad. That said, one must not underestimate the need for Tracker to evolve, especially if it wants to run for more years. While a cancellation is highly unlikely right now, considering how successful it is, the show can't rely on its old tricks if it wants to maintain its popularity, enough to fuel it for a few more seasons.
