Toxic box office day 6: Yash film sees sharp drop on first Monday, earns Rs 7 crore

Actor Yash’s Toxic: A Fairy Tale for Grown-Ups recorded a sharp drop in collections on its first Monday, earning Rs 7.45 crore by 10 pm. The Geetu Mohandas directorial, which opened in theatres last Wednesday after multiple delays, had arrived amid high expectations as one of the year's most anticipated releases.According to trade website Sacnilk, the Monday figure marks the film’s lowest single-day collection so far, bringing its total domestic nett collection to Rs 221.55 crore, translating to an India gross of Rs 264.80 crore. Till now, Toxic: A Fairy Tale for Grown-Ups has now earned Rs 304.05 crore in worldwide gross collections, boosted by Rs 39.25 crore from international markets.The sharp decline follows a strong initial opening, after which daily earnings continued to slide across the weekend.The dip comes amid mixed audience reactions following its release, with viewers pointing to an incoherent screenplay, excessive violence and intimate scenes.Despite the criticism, the action thriller delivered a massive opening, earning Rs 101 crore nett and Rs 120 crore gross across India on day one to secure the second-biggest opening in Kannada cinema history.It also recorded the second-best domestic opening for an Indian film this year, behind only Dhurandhar 2’s Rs 103 crore start. However, momentum slowed quickly after the first day.
