Tottenham star Cristian Romero totally blanks Donald Trump in awkward exchange after World Cup final

The 28-year-old also looked like he was about to snub Mexican President Sheinbaum too after he shook the hand of Prime Minister Carney, the last of the three leaders in the line. But the defender turned back to shake Sheinbaum’s hand as well. President Trump did not seem to notice the snub as he was busy grabbing another medal to give to one of Romero’s team-mates. Reacting on social media, fans were in uproar as one said: “Romero is a pure chaos merchant.” A second said: “Hang on, he already had his medal from the other dude and shook his hand. The 80-year-old was also on hand to present the World Cup trophy to Spain afterwards. There was an awkward exchange as he seemed to wait next to the squad as they prepared to lift the trophy, with Infantino rushing over to try and usher him away. But Romero and Co would not have even noticed after they walked off the pitch as they refused to acknowledge Spain lifting the trophy. The hot-headed Argies failed to muster a single shot at the Spanish goal in the 90 minutes of regulation time, while Enzo Fernandez was also given his marching orders for reckless and stupid foul on Pau Cubarsi. Argentina had diligently defended up until then, but super-sub Torres soon broke the deadlock in the second half of Extra Time to give La Roja their second star. It also means they will enter the 2030 tournament they are co-hosts of, alongside Morocco and Portugal with some matches also being played in South America, as defending champions. Comment now
