MOHAMMED KUDUS is set to withdraw from Ghana duty as he continues his long road back to full fitness. Kudus is only just returning from a seven-month injury lay-off which saw him miss the World Cup. The Ghana international has, however, made appearances in Tottenham’s last four matches, including a start in the League Cup defeat to Liverpool. Sign up for the Football newsletter Thank you! The 26-year-old was handed his first Ghana call-up by boss Carlo Queiroz, but he is now expected to remain in North London rather than link up with the Black Stars. Kudus’ priority is to build up his fitness, strengthen his quads and gradually work his way back to his best rather than risk being pushed too quickly. The decision will come as music to the ears of Tottenham boss Roberto De Zerbi, who has endured a frustrating start to life in charge this season, with Spurs still searching for their first Premier League win after five games. De Zerbi and Kudus already have a connection dating back to the Italian’s time at Ajax, when he wanted to bring the Ghana star to the Premier League. A move was close to being agreed before West Ham intervened and hijacked the deal, offering more money and eventually taking Kudus to the London Stadium. Now the pair have been reunited in North London, with both having something to prove.
