TOTTENHAM are trying to sign Omar Marmoush – years after fellow Egyptian Mido recommended the North Londoners buy the forward. Spurs are hoping to pull off on an ambitious double deal for Manchester City pair Savinho and Marmoush before the end of the transfer window. Mido scored 19 goals in 61 games for Tottenham Credit: Reuters SunSport understands the North Londoners’ interest in Marmoush, 27, is long-standing, going back to when he was banging in the goals for Eintracht Frankfurt. But months earlier, in April 2024, Mido had begged his old club Tottenham to bring in Marmoush, feeling he was the ideal fit for the system of then-boss Ange Postecoglou. Mido, who scored 19 goals in 61 appearances for Spurs between 2004 and 2007, urged then-chairman Daniel Levy not to make the same mistake as he did when seemingly ignoring the former striker’s advice to bring in Mohammed Salah years prior. That was when Salah was still with Swiss side Basel, before he came to England and became a Premier League icon with Liverpool. Former Middlesbrough man Mido wrote on X: “Years ago I advised Spurs to sign Salah when he was still at Basil, they never listened to me… “Now I’m telling you plz go for Marmoush he will be a great signing, will fit in perfectly in Ange Postecoglou’s system as a left of right winger… hard worker, top professional and can score goals… pls Levy sign Marmoush from Frankfurt.” Two and half years on, Mido may just get his wish as Spurs look to secure Marmoush.
