Top US Neurology and Neurosurgery Hospitals Ranked

NYU Langone Hospitals in New York City is once again the best US hospital for neurology care, according to the 2026-2027 U.S. News & World Report annual ranking of best hospitals for neurology and neurosurgery.NYU Langone also claimed the top spot in last year’s ranking.Northwestern Medicine-Northwestern Memorial Hospital in Chicago has claimed the No. 2 spot on this year’s ranking, up from No. 6 last year.University of California, San Francisco (UCSF) Health-UCSF Medical Center holds the No. 3 spot for neurology care, down from No. 2 last year. NewYork-Presbyterian Hospital-Columbia and Cornell in New York City is now ranked No. 4, down from No. 3 last year. Mayo Clinic, Rochester, Minnesota, is ranked fifth this year, down from No. 4 last year.Rounding out the top 10 hospitals for neurology/neurosurgery are, in descending order, Johns Hopkins Hospital, Baltimore; Rush University Medical Center, Chicago; Brigham and Women’s Hospital, Boston; UT Southwestern Medical Center, Dallas; and Stanford Health Care-Stanford Hospital, Palo Alto, California.To determine the rankings, US News evaluated 1030 top neurology hospitals and ranked them based on care for brain hemorrhage, conditions affecting the central nervous system, spinal disorders and injuries, degenerative nervous system diagnoses such as multiple sclerosis, care for stroke, seizures, meningitis, and more.Honor RollAs in prior years, this year US News also recognized “honor roll” hospitals that have excelled across multiple areas of care.
