Tony Iommi Announces Long-Awaited New Solo Album, Unleashes Single “World Alone”: Stream

Tony Iommi has announced a new album titled From the Dark. Ahead of its October 23rd release via BMG, the legendary Black Sabbath guitarist has unveiled the lead single, “World Alone.” The album, co-produced by metal godfather and his longtime creative partner Mike Exeter, will arrive 26 years after the guitar legend’s first solo album, Iommi, and 21 years after his collaborative effort with Glenn Hughes on Fused. Get Black Sabbath Albums on Vinyl As opposed to the album Iommi, which included a different notable singer on each track, From the Dark features Norwegian vocalist Jorn Lande (Masterplan, Vagabond, The Snakes) on all songs. The rest of Iommi’s solo band on the LP is comprised of bassist Becky Baldwin and drummer Karl Brazil. “It’s an album we’ve really enjoyed making,” stated Iommi in a press release. “We’re not trying to prove anything — it’s a great album, it rocks!” Singer Lande co-wrote all the songs, including the first single “World Alone.” The track starts out with some monster riffage by Iommi, laying the foundation for Lande’s dramatic vocals, which call to mind the late Ronnie James Dio. The track is accompanied by a music video that captures the dystopian essence of the lyrics. The clip features a lead protagonist, The Believer, who has to play a twisted video game in order to save his life.
