Tommy Iommi Announces First Solo Album in 21 Years

The longtime Black Sabbath guitarist’s From the Dark drops October 23Photo by Ross HalfinMore than two decades after his last proper solo effort, Fused, longtime Black Sabbath guitarist Tommy Iommi has announced From the Dark. He co-wrote the album with Norwegian metal singer Jørn Lande, co-produced it with frequent collaborator Mike Exeter, and recruited Queen’s Brian May for a guest solo on “Death Wake.” It’s out October 23 on BMG. Check out the music video for first single “World Alone” below.“It's an album we've really enjoyed making,” Iommi said in a statement. “We're not trying to prove anything.” Alongside the announcement, the guitarist also spoke to Rolling Stone about the record as well as the life without Ozzy Osbourne. “It’s been really strange,” he said. “I still don’t feel like he’s gone because when I look on YouTube or whatever, there’s something to do with Ozzy, and I see him again and again. It’s almost like he’s still here. It’s really peculiar. Only, we were in touch so many times.
