Sign in to your TheGamer account Earlier this year, it was revealed that Tomb Raider: Legacy of Atlantis had been delayed to February 2027, despite initial promises that it would launch at some point in 2026. That mean that we’d have two big Tomb Raider games launching in 2027, with Tomb Raider: Catalyst previously expected to launch at some point during the year. You don’t have to be a master of business to realize that launching two games in the same series so close to each other would be a pretty bad idea, especially since we haven't had a mainline Tomb Raider game for six years. So, it shouldn’t really come as too much of a surprise to hear that Tomb Raider: Catalyst has also been delayed. This announcement comes from Amazon Games head Jeffrey Gattis, who rather casually mentioned the delay in a recent interview with The Game Business. In the interview, he discusses the games that Amazon have coming, including both Tomb Raider games. “Atlantis comes February 12th of next year and then we'll follow on in 2028 with the next one,” says Gattis. “So, we're excited about those. There are some other AAA things that are in various stages of discussion right now.” Again, it’s a pretty understandable delay, as it does seem the release dates of both games are heavily linked, so we can assume that any problems that the Legacy of Atlantis encounters will affect Catalyst as well. That being said, the delay is still disappointing, especially for those that are big on game preservation. Tomb Raider: Catalyst releasing in 2028 means that it will launch past PlayStation’s cut off date for the manufacturing of discs, meaning it likely won’t have a physical copy when it launches, especially if it’s late in the year.
