Sign in to your TheGamer account Spider-Man: Brand New Day hits theaters this weekend, and fans of Insomniac’s Spider-Man games are going to want to be on the lookout for some potentially hard-to-spot easter eggs. Tom Holland loves the games too, and he and the crew tried to get some of Insomniac Spidey’s finishing moves into the final cut. Peter and Miles can perform some pretty flashy moves in PlayStation’s Spider-Man games, particularly if you hit triangle and circle together at just the right time. Speaking with IGN ahead of Brand New Day’s arrival this weekend, Holland revealed that some of those moves, or at least moves inspired by them, are in the film. “I couldn’t sleep last night; I was so excited about today. I was trying to figure out what I was gonna do, and I was like, ‘I’ll just throw the game on and have some fun.’ Holland told IGN, the game in question presumably being Spider-Man 2. The idea that the guy who plays Spider-Man in the movies played a Spider-Man video game to calm his nerves about his upcoming Spider-Man movie tickles me. Sticking to the games, Holland confirmed “a lot of the action” in Brand New Day is inspired by Insomniac’s work in the Spidey games, specifically “a lot of the finishing moves.” “A lot of the action designers and stunt people we had were huge gamers… they would just screengrab the moves they really liked and bring them into the writers’ room and show it to me. And then we’d be like, ‘Yeah, that’s sick. Let’s try to figure out how to do that for real.’” Go Find Those Easter Eggs As for what moves Holland pulled from the games, that’s for us to try and figure out. Maybe reacquaint yourself with some of the finishing moves by revisiting the games before you head out to see Brand New Day this weekend. Not just to remind yourself of what you’ll need to be on the lookout for in the new movie, but also because you can do them while wearing Peter’s Fresh Start suit. Spider-Man 2 received an update this week that added the Fresh Start suit to the game. It's modeled after the suit Holland wears in Brand New Day. Fans have been critical of the way it looks in-game, but if you don’t like it, you can just wear the far more vibrant Marvel Tokon: Fighting Souls suit Spidey wears in the upcoming fighter, as it was added to the game’s growing suit haul as part of the same update.
