Tom Hardy Triumphantly Returns in the MobLand Season 2 Trailer

2 min readThere’s a sad, uneventful version of MobLand out in the multiverse that doesn’t star Pierce Brosnan and Helen Mirren. I can’t say our timeline is perfect, by any means, but it did grant us the right butterfly-effect chain of events that placed the two stars together on the Paramount+ crime drama. And if anyone witnessed their wild and unruly performances as crime-lord power couple Conrad and Maeve Harrigan, then I’m sure you would be hard-pressed to wish for any alternative. The new MobLand season 2 trailer probably says it best, when a character utters that “Conrad went completely bonkers berserk.” He describes Brosnan’s character’s actions as “an exciting development,” and I’m sure he’s not wrong. I can’t pick out a single new plot point as the London crime war ramps up for the Harrigans, but anything that begins with Brosnan going “bonkers berserk” is up my alley.According to the show’s official logline, season 2 picks up immediately after the events of the first season, which followed a near-complete breakdown of the Harrigans’ criminal empire. The family’s fixer, Harry Da Souza (Tom Hardy), got them out of a war with a rival family by simply winning it for the Harrigans and killing the head of the gang, Richie Stevenson. But the Harrigans aren’t an easy family to manage, and it looks like season 2 will show them at their most reckless point yet.Luke Varley/Paramount+Helen Mirren returns as loose-cannon crime family matriarch Maeve Harrigan.“In the upcoming season, the Harrigans struggle to show a unified front as rising rivals threaten their fractured criminal empire—and Harry Da Souza, their street-smart and formidable ‘fixer,’ must walk a dangerous tightrope when tensions within the family intensify,” Paramount announced. “As violence spills into every corner of their lives, loyalties snap, safety proves temporary, and the battle for power leaves no room for mercy.”The ten-episode season will stream on Paramount+ starting on Friday, September 18. Alongside Brosnan, Mirren, and Hardy, returning cast members include Paddy Considine, Joanne Froggatt, and Anson Boon. The season 2 trailer also follows the rumored, brief split between Hardy and MobLand’s 101 Studios, after it was reported that the star was leaving the series due to a falling out with the producers. The two sides eventually worked it out, however, and now Hardy is set to potentially sign on for a third season. But for now, all eyes are set on season 2 going “bonkers berserk.”
