Tokyo Mirage Sessions #FE and its enhanced version, Encore, are two games that are forever likely to be stuck on the Nintendo Wii U and Nintendo Switch. Developed by Atlus, the game utilizes its typical style and adds a range of Fire Emblem characters for the ultimate crossover. Unfortunately, because of those Fire Emblem characters, the game will never leave Nintendo's platforms. With a new wave of PC ports dropping, no thanks to "vibecoding" (bleugh), Tokyo Mirage Sessions #FE Encore is breaking free from its Nintendo prison, with a PC version "done soon". Tokyo Mirage Sessions #FE Encore Is Breaking Free From Nintendo Jail Vibecoding (yuck) has turned the decompiling world on its head. Usually, fans have to decipher a game's binary code manually, turn it into C++, and then complete the port. AI is doing the hard work for people. In the last six weeks, we've seen games like Super Mario Galaxy and Kingdom Hearts 358/2 get PC versions, and titles like Need for Speed Underground 2 and Halo: Combat Evolved become fully playable in-browser. The latest game to receive this treatment is Tokyo Mirage Sessions #FE Encore. First released on the Wii U in 2015, Tokyo Mirage Sessions #FE received an Encore version for the Nintendo Switch with new content, party members, and music. It received a very respectable 81 on Metacritic, but the game sold well under a million copies across both versions, so it's likely to be left alone. At least by Nintendo and Atlus. A few days ago, godofknife1 shared their desire for a port of Tokyo Mirage Sessions #FE Encore. Today, they shared an update saying that it's playable. While they're still ironing out some kinks, the shared footage shows various segments of the game running on PC, often at 60-120 FPS. They have plans to release the port soon, but not before they complete the following: Some kind of halo effect on characters, shadows. Uncapped FPS makes the menu, loading effect too fast (but the character and battle are properly smooth now) Optimization (Although for 4K resolution, that FPS is okay but still if can optimize more, the better) Trying to implement more QoL (faster walk or run for Itsuki, HD texture, Uncensored patch) It's frustrating to see how these ports are coming about, but great for preservation purposes that they are making their way to PC.
