The boy, who was around age 2, was left in his dad’s car on an industrial estate in the Costa Dorada town of Valls near the east coast city of Tarragona. Two children aged two and four were found dead in their family’s car in the town of Carpentras in southeastern France in June during the ferocious heatwave. The two young brothers, four-year-old Kassim Benouali and two-year-old Sadek, were among the first victims of France’s brutal heatwave. By the end of June more than 5,700 excess deaths were recorded, according to The Guardian. The two children climbed into the car without their mother knowing, according to prosecutors. Police say that the extreme heat is “the leading theory” for their deaths. The mother discovered her two children in her car at their home in Carpentras, southern France.
