Todd and Summer stage Coronation Street exit but he has a bombshell to drop first

It has been a rough year for both of them, from Billy Mayhew’s death in January to Summer’s recent stint in prison after her wrongful arrest for Theo Silverton’s murder. So, it was hardly surprising when, in tonight’s episode, they announced that they’d be leaving Weatherfield behind. While celebrating Christina Boyd’s (Amy Robbins) birthday in the Rovers, Todd and Summer told George Shuttleworth (Tony Maudsley) that they had booked to visit Eileen and Jason Grimshaw in Thailand. With Todd having received the money from Theo’s life insurance that morning, George told him that the holiday was a good use of it. However, Todd was quick to correct him, explaining that the money hadn’t gone towards the holiday and revealing what he’d actually done with the money. While this would make perfect sense to anyone else, it wasn’t what Christina was expecting, and she managed to put her foot in it when she returned to the table at the tail end of the conversation.
