On October 15, Nene marked their 27th wedding anniversary with unseen photographs from their intimate courthouse wedding in Beverly Hills, California, and a heartfelt note that celebrated a lifetime of togetherness.“Two incredible sons, countless memories, a few challenges, lots of laughter, and a lifetime of love later, I’d choose you all over again,” he wrote, adding, “To infinity and beyond, together.”The photographs offer a glimpse into October 1999, when Madhuri was among Hindi cinema’s biggest stars. With films such as Hum Aapke Hain Koun..!, Dil To Pagal Hai and Raja cementing her popularity, her decision to marry Nene, a cardiovascular surgeon based in the US, and move away from the Indian film industry came as a surprise to many.But Madhuri has repeatedly maintained that she never saw marriage as a sacrifice. She had found the person she wanted to build a life with, and that mattered more than stardom. In an earlier interview, she described having a home, a husband and children as part of her dream. The couple moved to Denver after their wedding and welcomed sons Arin in 2003 and Ryan in 2005. They returned to India in 2011, eventually making Mumbai their home.
