Bosch fans are still scratching their heads over why Amazon would do Titus Welliver so dirty with the way they handled Legacy's ending/cancellation. There's no question that after portraying Harry Bosch for more than a decade across two acclaimed series, Welliver deserved a much better send-off than the abrupt conclusion of Bosch: Legacy's third season. Instead, the finale left the beloved detective's future uncertain, with the franchise shifting its attention toward the Ballard spin-off rather than giving its original star a proper farewell. Although Bosch isn't necessarily gone for good, the possibility that Welliver might never headline another series remains a bitter pill to swallow for longtime fans. Fortunately, there's finally some good news for fans feeling bitter about Welliver's treatment, as he's making an official return as the iconic detective once again. As of today, October 27, Welliver has officially returned as Harry Bosch, reprising the role in an unexpected format for Michael Connelly's highly anticipated new thriller, The Hollow, available now. Titus Welliver Returns In New Bosch Release Today Image via Prime Video Although fans are still hoping Titus Welliver will eventually return to television as Harry Bosch, the actor has reprised his most iconic role with the October 27 release of The Hollow, the latest novel from bestselling author Michael Connelly. Welliver narrates the unabridged audiobook alongside Cameron Monaghan, offering fans the opportunity to experience another gripping Bosch mystery with the familiar voice of the character they've followed for more than a decade. Published by Hachette Audio, the audiobook is available through Audible, Apple Books, and other major digital retailers. You can order Michael Connelly's The Hollow via Amazon here. As for the story itself, The Hollow takes Bosch back to one of the darkest periods of his childhood, following the murder of his mother and his subsequent placement at the notorious MacLaren Children's Center. When his half-brother, Mickey Haller, informs him that he's entitled to $400,000 from a massive settlement involving the institution, Bosch has little interest in the money. Instead, he's determined to investigate the decades-old murder of a fellow resident nicknamed Chops, whose death was covered up. What begins as an investigation into his childhood trauma eventually leads Bosch toward a dangerous criminal who may still be alive. The 352-page hardcover carries a $32 retail price, although Amazon is currently offering it for just $16. The Kindle edition costs $14.99, while the audiobook is listed at $24.99 through its publisher, with Apple Books offering it for $16.99. While it isn't quite the television comeback fans have been demanding, Welliver's return makes The Hollow an appealing release for anyone missing Harry Bosch. The Hollow's Welliver Comeback Will Have To Do, For Now For fans hoping that The Hollow might signal the beginning of a full-fledged Harry Bosch comeback, the reality is a little more complicated. While the audiobook brings Titus Welliver back into the fold, it isn't quite the same as watching him headline another television series. Fortunately, his next on-screen appearance is already confirmed. Welliver has revealed that he'll return for three episodes of Ballard Season 2, once again appearing alongside Maggie Q's Renée Ballard. Production has already wrapped, although Prime Video has yet to announce an official release date. Michael Connelly previously suggested a late 2026 or early 2027 premiere, meaning fans hopefully won't have to wait much longer. There's also hope for something more substantial. In July 2026, Welliver revealed that he'd been discussing ideas for a potential standalone Bosch movie with Connelly and producer Henrik Bastin. Nothing has been officially greenlit, but it's encouraging that the creative team remains interested in continuing the character's story. Meanwhile, MGM+'s upcoming prequel, Bosch: Start of Watch, will explore Harry's early career with Cameron Monaghan taking over the role. While that promises another exciting chapter for the Bosch franchise, it isn't the Welliver-led continuation longtime fans have been demanding. Until that happens, The Hollow and his upcoming Ballard appearances will have to tide us over.
