Tirumala to witness two Brahmotsavams this year

The TTD is making elaborate arrangements in anticipation of heavy pilgrim turnout for the twin festivals. | Photo Credit: File Photo The hill temple of Lord Venkateswara in Tirumala is scheduled to witness two Brahmotsavams during the year owing to ‘adhikamasam’.While the annual Salakatla Brahmotsavams will be held from September 15 to 23, the Navaratri Brahmotsavams are scheduled to be organised from October 12 to 20.The nine-day Salakatla Brahmotsavams will commence with ‘Ankurarpanam’ on the evening of September 14. During the period, Vahana Sevas will be held twice daily between 8 a.m. and 10 a.m. and 7 p.m. and 9 p.m., alongside the regular mandatory rituals.The festivities will begin with ‘Dwajarohanam’ on September 15 evening, followed by ‘Pedda Sesha Vahanam’ at 9 p.m. the same night marking the first vahan seva.The auspicious Garuda Seva, the most important event of the festival, will be observed on September 19, followed by the procession of the golden chariot on the succeeding evening.The ‘Rathotsavam’ will be organised on September 22 and ‘Chakrasnanam’ on September 23 signaling the conclusion of the grand event followed by ‘Dwajavarohanam’ the same night.The TTD is also making elaborate arrangements in anticipation of a heavy turnout in the pilgrim crowd for the twin festivals.
