Tinubu tackles governors, says they’re building needless flyovers

President Bola Tinubu has taken a swipe as state governors, saying many of them prioritise the wrong things despite earning more for their states due to his policies. The Nigerian leader specifically accused some state governors of building unnecessary flyovers with state funds. “You need to help us communicate to these governors. Today, the economy of operation is high. But the money that I’m pushing to the states, if you had it during your own time or during my time, it would have been different,” Mr Tinubu told traditional rulers from Oyo State, led by the Olubadan of Ibadan land, Rashidi Ladoja, who visited him at the State House in Abuja. Mr Ladoja was the governor of Oyo State in 2003 when Mr Tinubu was Lagos State governor. “They [governors] are taking four to five times their money. Nobody is borrowing money to pay salaries now,” the president added.
