| Freelance Soaps Reporter Published August 10, 2026 11:59pm Tim’s troubles continue to grow (Picture: Mark Bruce/ITV) Coronation Street’s Tim and Sally Metcalfe (Joe Duttine and Sally Dynevor) have found themselves trapped in a nightmare that there’s no waking up from. It was supposed to be a simple lads night; too many beers, a bit of moaning about their other halves and a proper reunion for Tim and his cousin, Richie (Nathan Sussex), and it was! When Sally came home the next day, Tim masterfully convinced her that there’d been no shenanigans, just a few games and a small tipple amongst friends, and as far as Tim was concerned, that was the end of the matter… …until Richie turned up again, having been kicked out by his wife, Rachel, for failing to inform her that he’d gotten absolutely tanked and spent the night at Tim’s house and had kicked his backside into touch on the back of it. Sally begrudgingly let him spend the night there, while making it incredibly clear to Tim that she wanted him gone pretty sharpish, with Tim convincing him to return home the next day and make things right with his marriage. While he patted himself on the back for successfully convincing Richie to fix things between himself and Rachel, Tim found Richie’s wallet down the side of the couch and headed off to return it, and what he found is set to start a chain of events that’ll change his life forever. Discovering Richie with his shirt splattered with blood and Rachel’s dead body in the back room, Tim was utterly sickened, and this week sees him and Sally deal with the fallout of Richie’s arrest for the murder of his wife. With Richie’s daughter, Lucy (Anya Dewin), who’s deeply traumatised by the murder of her mum and the further imprisonment of her dad. I mean, we totally get it. Tim and Sally take Lucy in (Picture: Danielle Baguley/ITV) Next week sees the Metcalfes continue to struggle with Lucy, who’s emotional damage is incredibly raw and causes her to lash out constantly, before Tim receives a visiting order from the prison: Richie wants to see him. In the prison visiting room, Richie isn’t backwards in coming forwards and makes it clear what he wants; his cousin to back up his self-defence story, which is about the only way he’ll manage to escape the prison sentence he’s currently staring down. Incredulous, Tim refuses to lie for Richie, who’s reaction terrifies him. Richie utterly explodes in a fit of rage, barking at Tim that he’s the reason that any of this happened: it was him who convinced Richie to return home after the argument with Rachel.
