Tim Curry Cause of Death Revealed

Tim Curry’s cause of death has been revealed eight days after his passing on Aug. 25. According to documents obtained by People from the Los Angeles County Department of Public Health, the “Rocky Horror Picture Show” actor died of coronary artery disease. The report also cited his history of health issues including his 2012 stroke and kidney cancer. While these ailments contributed to his death they were not the underlying cause. The actor died last week at his home in Toluca Lake, Los Angeles, 14 years after he suffered a paralyzing stroke. He maintained a presence in the public eye through the intervening years through fan conventions, social media and his 2025 memoir “Vagabond.” “Though widely known for his inimitable, flamboyant characters and colorful stage performances, his greatest legacies to those who knew him were his curious, expansive mind and generous, gentle heart, both of which remained open and filled with anticipation until his final breath,” Curry’s team shared in a statement last week. Curry received an outpouring of love from across Hollywood in the wake of his death. Everyone from the Muppets to Rosie O’Donnell, and a slew of his “Clue” co-stars paid the late actor respect. “Few humans have earned the title of honorary Muppet more than the legendary Tim Curry,” the Muppets wrote on Instagram. “As a performer he was unparalleled – witty, charming, unnerving, and deeply funny. We will always consider it one of our greatest treasures to have been part of Long John Silver’s crew. Thank you for everything, Tim.” His “Clue” co-star Michael McKean also shared kind words about the late actor noting that their last conversations was “about life and love and laughter.” My last conversation with Tim Curry was about life and love and laughter. Rosie O’Donnell shared a photo on Instagram calling Curry the “sweetest man.” Carol Burnett posted a clip of her and Curry in “Annie,” honoring the passing of her co-star and friend. “Nobody could play lovable villains better than he could,” she said. “He was a dear friend. I was blessed to know him.”
