TikTok star Becki Jones shares heartbreak as her dad dies after battle with terminal cancer

TIKTOK star Becki Jones has shared her heartbreak as she announced her dad has passed away after a battle with cancer. My dad, what a man. “Not a bad bone in his body. He loved life, he loved his family. “Myself, my mum and my dad were the three musketeers. “Living at home still was a privilege and not it feels so empty. I love you, my hero, my dad. Most read in Showbiz “Until we meet again, because I know we will.” One clip showed the daughter and father duo sweetly hugging, a clip of him celebrating his birthday with a Colin the Caterpillar cake and various special clips of her dad over his lifetime, ending with him smiling at her on her engagement party. Becki’s father had previously been diagnosed with vascular dementia at just 53 years of age and skin cancer a year later, and sadly diagnosed “stage 4 terminal cancer in his brain and lung”. In July, she shared: “The last couple of months has been extremely hard for my family. “My Dad sadly got diagnosed with stage 4 terminal cancer in his brain and lung (my TT explains more). As you all know he already has vascular dementia (he’s only 56). Life is so cruel. “I’ve been sad, angry and confused. BUT my dad wants us to stay strong, to carry on and to stay positive.” Becki revealed at the time how her dad was set to undergo treatment, she continued: “ He’s such a brave brave man with the biggest heart, we’re gonna make lots of memories, cherish every day and he starts treatment soon to hopefully shrink the cancer in his brain. “You all ask how he is so thought I’d let you all know what we’ve been going through. Life is short, make those memories and just love it x” Becki followed up the post with a video on TikTok, going into more depth about the situation. She said: “What does the word strong mean to you? To me, the word strong means my dad. Now I thought whilst I’ve just finished a run and I’m on a nice walk back, I thought I’d just give you a little update because you all ask about him. “So just for a little bit of context if you’re new here, my dad got diagnosed with vascular dementia when he was 53 years old. Now it’s been three years since his diagnosis of that. A year later he was diagnosed with skin cancer. So he had melanoma on his scalp. After having his melanoma removed, Becki’s dad underwent regular appointments and scans which two years on had revealed “something on the brain”. “So one of the scans recently showed something on the brain. So anyway, we get called in to be sadly told that my dad has cancer in his brain. And then on top of that, we get told that this little thing he had on his lung, I think it was called a nodule, is also cancer but that’s very small. But it has grown. “So obviously after receiving that horrible news, my dad’s so strong, like so, so strong. “So the last few months I’ve been taking him into the cancer hospital in Liverpool. So we had another appointment to be then told that it’s incurable, it’s stage four terminal. “But they’re hoping that they could do a combination thing which is like immunotherapy. “He’s got vascular dementia, so they just wanted to make sure that he would be able to cope with it because they wanted to give him the strongest dose. So that it will shrink it for time, you know, to give him more time with us. “Sorry guys, there is like specific terminology but I’m just saying it in how I understand it. So anyway, he had a scan. Literally this has all happened so fast.” Cancer screenings in England CATCHING cancer early gives you the best chance of survival, and a huge part of that is attending regular screenings. NHS programmes can help diagnose the disease, or your risk of it, and improve the likelihood of successful treatment. There are three national screening programmes in England: cervical screening, breast screening and bowel screening. “If you are eligible, please make every effort to have your screening test as they can detect a problem early, before you have any symptoms. ,” the NHS says. “Finding out about a problem early can mean that treatment is more effective.” Cervical screening This is offered in England to people with a cervix aged 25 to 64 and is routinely carried out every three years up to the age of 49, and every five from 50 to 64. Depending on the result, people may be recalled earlier. During a cervical screening, samples are tested for high risk Human Papillomavirus (HPV), which causes nearly all cervical cancers. Those that test positive are then analysed further. Breast screening Breast screenings, which involve an X-ray test called a mammogram that can spot cancers when they are too small to see or feel, are usually offered to women aged 50 to 71 in England. But the NHS is trialling them for women under 50 if they have a high risk of developing breast cancer. Bowel screening This test detects whether patients are showing any early signs of cancer. It is available to everyone aged 50 to 74, with at-home kits automatically sent out every two years, so make sure your GP has your correct address. The test involves providing a small poo sample to be checked for tiny amounts of blood, which could be caused by cancer. If you’re 75 or over, you can ask for a kit every two years by phoning the free bowel cancer screening helpline on 0800 707 60 60. Lung screening Lung cancer screening is offered to people aged 55 to 74 who are smokers or have smoked in the past. These are not yet available nationwide but many areas do routine lung health checks by invitation. A health check includes a questionnaire and potentially a scan to check your lungs. Source: NHS Becki revealed how a more recent appointment had shown how the cancer had progressed. She said: “Sadly, the recent MRI has shown that the cancer is spread in the brain to another two places. You’re probably wondering why I’m not like bawling my eyes out, but trust me. We’ve done that, we’ve all done that. “And my dad wants us all to be positive. He doesn’t want us to, you know, sit around and cry and get upset. I feel like I haven’t actually accepted it. If you get me, I’m kind of in a bit of denial.” She added: “It’s horrible and I’ve been angry, I’ve been sad, you know. But I just want to be there for my dad. I want to make loads of memories with him. I want to have fun. You know, I still tell him, you’re still annoying. You know, aren’t all parents? Praising her dad, Becki said: “That’s why my dad’s like the definition of the word strong. He’s such a good person. He’s such an amazing dad. And, you know, we don’t know how long any of us have got left on this earth.” Comment now
