Govan previously wanted to wait until July to announce a commitment, but Missouri forced his hand. While asked to play safety for Midwest BOOM, the Class of 2027 four-star also got hit with another question: “Are you ready to make a decision anytime soon?” “Mizzou was really home,” Govan said. “I knew that from the start. It was a really big thing for me, and I was like, ‘Dude, why not? Let’s just do it right now.’ I wanted to go take some [official visits], but there’s no point in OVs when you got Mizzou.” The MizzouToday Show: Spotify Apple Podcasts The Republic (Mo.) safety also discussed recruiting Southwest Missouri and the overall talent in the 2027 class. The eighth-ranked prospect in the Show-Me State credited five-star Miami offensive tackle Jackson Cantwell for putting the region more under the microscope. “That’s what helped me get all of my recruitment,” said Govan, who ended a drought of Republic products to Missouri. “He had coaches coming down here. They’re watching me when we played him, and he really helped us there. I feel like I’m going to help a lot this season. These big colleges are going to be like, ‘These guys are dogs.’ They’re going to come get us.”
