Tiger Shroff firing case: Custody of four accused extended till Oct 28; 11th accused remanded till Oct 31

A Mumbai court on Monday (October 26, 2026) extended the police custody of four accused in the firing case involving Bollywood actor Tiger Shroff’s car by two days, till October 28. The Mumbai Crime Branch had sought an extension till October 31 to investigate alleged local support, recover communication data and collect voice samples. Meanwhile, the ninth and tenth accused were also remanded in police custody till October 28, taking the total number of arrests in the case to 11.The four accused, arrested on October 23, were produced before the court on Monday (October 26, 2026) after their earlier police custody ended. Investigators sought further custody to establish how the accused allegedly coordinated through the encrypted messaging application Signal, trace the source of firearms and ammunition, and identify those who may have assisted them in Mumbai.Defence questions further custodyAdvocates Omkar Inamdar and Ajinkya Mirgal, appearing for the accused, opposed the extension, arguing that investigators had already been granted sufficient time to interrogate their clients and recover evidence. The defence submitted that mobile phones, SIM cards, bank details and debit cards had already been recovered. Mr. Inamdar said the accused had undergone interrogation during their three-day transit remand and subsequent police custody, questioning the need for further detention. The lawyers also disputed the relevance of photographs and personal conversations recovered from the phones, maintaining that the images were selfies with friends and that the conversations did not appear connected to the alleged offence.According to the defence, investigators reiterated their earlier grounds concerning communications allegedly exchanged through Signal. Police also sought voice samples from all four accused, which the lawyers argued could be collected during judicial custody with the court’s permission. The defence further questioned the need for additional custody to identify the accused’s alleged local support network, arguing that investigators who had travelled across States to make arrests should have been able to establish whether they received assistance in Mumbai. The lawyers also challenged the prosecution’s allegation that the accused intended to bring a weapon into Mumbai and subsequently take it back. They pointed to the recovery of a firearm from Surat, Gujarat, arguing that questions concerning its connection to the alleged offence could be examined during trial. The court, however, granted two additional days of police custody.Ninth and tenth accused remanded till October 28Meanwhile, advocate Ajinkya Mirgal said the ninth and tenth accused arrested in the case had been produced before a court and remanded in police custody till October 28.According to Mirgal, investigators are questioning them about the source of the weapons, alleged logistical assistance, the wider conspiracy behind the firing and possible gang connections.Eleventh accused arrested in IndoreIn a separate development, 22-year-old Pranjal Thakran, a resident of Kharkhoda in Haryana’s Sonipat district, was arrested in Indore on Saturday (October 24, 2026), in a joint operation by the Mumbai Crime Branch and Indore Crime Branch.Mr. Thakran was brought to Mumbai on transit remand and produced before the Esplanade Court on Sunday, October 25, where the Mumbai Crime Branch’s Anti-Extortion Cell obtained his police custody till October 31.Investigators suspect Mr. Thakran may have provided logistical or other assistance to the alleged shooters. Police are examining his suspected role, contacts, possible criminal antecedents and alleged association with Anil Pandit to determine whether their links had any connection with the firing.According to preliminary information, Mr. Thakran had travelled from Sonipat to Indore around five days before his arrest to visit his brother, who was undergoing medical treatment there.Acting on information about his presence in Indore, a Mumbai Crime Branch team travelled to the city and, with assistance from local police, traced and arrested him.
